Iwaki Coal and Fossil Museum: Horuru
From the halcyon days of the Joban coalfields, fossils of plesiosaurs and Futabasaurus suzukii unearthed around the city and related materials are on display here. A mock mine shaft also recreates the life and history of coal mining.
The dinosaur which appears in the Doraemon movie and is nicknamed "Pisuke" by Nobita, was apparently modeled after the Futabasaurus suzukii.
There are many other samples of dinosaur bone fossils which seem to move with a trick of the light.
This popular family tourist spot also offers amber accessories and the unique opportunity to try producing ammonite samples.
