Oonamuchi Jinja Shrine

According to the Engishiki (an ancient Japanese text on laws and customs), this temple is counted amongst Japan's oldest, it is revered by locals, who call it "Ongasama".
Held continuously every year for 700-800 years on the 23rd of October, the great autumn festival "Okunchi" takes place and men and women of all ages carry the mikoshi (a portable shrine).
A maihime (dancing girl) dedicates a "Urayasu no Mai" dance to the gods.
