Former Shindo Residence

This building was completed about 170 years ago, in the year of Kaei 3 (1850), and served as a local governor's residence during the late Edo period.
Since most of the building materials used are the same as they were at the original time of construction, it has been designated as an Important Cultural Property (city designated Important Cultural Property) that can help us to better understand the atmosphere of private houses from the late Edo period.
It is possible to go inside and access the tatami rooms, so you will have the opportunity to closely observe the construction of a building from the era.
