Akitomi jinja Shrine

The Akitomi jinja Shrine, which was rebuilt in the year of Genroku 4 (1691) following the Gongen-Zukuri style, was selected, together with the neighboring Tosho Shrine, as the first city designated Tangible Cultural Properties of the area.
The deity enshrined here is a god of agriculture.
Every year, from the night of January 14th to the dawn of the 15th, a Shinto ritual aimed at divining the outcome of the new year's crops, called "Akitomi-Jinja no Tsutsu-Gayu," (which is a prefecturally designated Intangible Folk Cultural Property) takes place in this shrine.
