Okada Post Office

It was built in 1902 as the Okada Post and Telegraph Office.
The town thrived on cotton production, and the post office served to connect female workers to their hometowns by enabling them to send and receive letters.
In 1955, it was renamed the Chita Post Office, but in 1966, since it became cramped, it was moved to another location and closed.
In 1993, it was revived as the Chita Okada Simple Post Office on the strength of the enthusiasm of the local people.
The roof tiles still bear the postal markings, and the building was registered as a National Tangible Cultural Property in 2013 as a valuable structure that carries on the appearance of the Meiji period into the present day.
