Eisei Bunko Museum

Located on the site of the former Edo residence of the Hosokawa family, feudal lords of the Kumamoto domain during the Edo period, this museum was established in 1950 by the 16th head of the family, Goritsu.
The museum houses approximately 94,000 pieces of historical materials and art works inherited from the Hosokawa family, including 8 national treasures and 32 important cultural properties.
The museum holds exhibitions four times a year on various themes, during which time the works are exhibited to the public.
