Kankaido Park
There used to be the oldest school in Fukushima Prefecture here, called Kankaido, which opened in 1872, but it was washed away by the tsunami from the Great East Japan Earthquake.
Along with illustrating the great damage inflicted by the tsunami, the site where the Kankaido School was located has been designated as a historic site by Fukushima Prefecture.
The park with its expansive lawn is used for indoor and outdoor events, along with the adjacent cultural exchange center Kankai Hall and the commercial complex Kankai Plaza.
