A Colony of Mizubasho

The Sugaba area along Route 454 that intersects Shingo Village is said to be the largest mizubasho (skunk cabbage) colony in northern Tohoku, with approximately 100,000 plants blooming every year in its 3.55 hectare wetlands.
Late April to early May is the best time to visit, when you can walk along the roughly 900 meter-long promenade around the area and explore the colony's sights.
