Mayasan Butsunichiji Temple

Butsunichiji Temple was opened in 1659 during the Edo period by Ingen Zenji, and it was a temple of bodhi under the Asada clan who governed Northern Settsu region (Ikeda, Toyonaka, and Sanda Cities in Osaka prefecture) and Satosho in Okayama Prefecture.
There are tomb towers of successive lords of the Matsuda clan, which are registered as cultural assets in Ikeda city.
The temple regularly holds zazen meditation sessions, reading services, calligraphy classes, and painting classes.
Special events throughout the year include the annual Nirvana ceremony, the Spring and Autumn Equinox ceremony, the "feeding ghosts" ceremony during the Obon season, the Jizo Bon ceremony and the New Year's Eve bell-ringing ceremony.
