Yahi Jinja Shrine

A dense forest surrounds the shrine, which was established 1000 years ago. The shrine was established through the appeal of Hachiro Masayoshi Yano in 912 and given the name "Yahi Jinja Shrine" to commemorate the pilgrimage of Sugawara Masanori, grandson of Sugawara no Michizane. The moss-covered stone steps and rows of tall Sugi cedar trees evoke the divine atmosphere of the village shrine grove. It is said that if you pass through the red torii gate on the stairs leading to the main shrine, you will have "okori" (an ancient fever).
