The site of Tsuhoji Temple

In 1020 (Kannin 4), Minamoto no Yorinobu, who was appointed as governor of Kawachi, established his main residence in Tuboi.
His son Yoriyoshi and his grandson Yoshiie were active in the Zenkunen War (Former/Earlier Nine-Year War) and the Gosannen War (Later Three-Year War) and established themselves as military commanders.
Tuboi is said to be the birthplace of the Kawachi Genji clan because he was the ancestor of Minamoto no Yoritomo, who founded the Kamakura shogunate.
Yoriyoshi’s tomb is located within the Tsuhoji site, while those of Yorinobu and Yoshiie are on the hillside to the southeast.
