In 1953 (Showa Year 28), the year before the Kishiwada Castle Tower was rebuilt, this garden was created as a circuit style traditional Japanese dry landscape garden by landscape gardener Mirei Shigemori.
It is nationally designated as a Place of Scenic Beauty that can be seen from the Kishiwada Castle Tower (observation deck).
