Tensyoji Temple

According to the legend of Takojizo during the Tensho period (1573 to 1592), Kishiwada Castle was attacked by the Negoro and Saikashuu and was on the verge of falling.
At that moment, a single monk riding a large octopus following by thousands of other octopuses appeared out of nowhere, mowing down the enemy soldiers with tremendous force, thus saving the castle from crisis.
A few days later, Jizo was found in the castle moat covered in numerous wounds and was thereafter stored inside the castle.
It was moved to the largest Jizo Hall in Japan within Tensyoji Temple from the Bunroku era (1592 to 1596) and remains there to this day.
