Kirihata: Stone Bath and Stone Jizo Statue at Hosshoji Temple

There's a stone bath on the grounds of Hosshoji Temple presumed to be from the Kamakura Period.
It has been designated as a tangible cultural property of Osaka Prefecture along with the stone bath at the ruins of Chooji Temple in the Fukuda neighborhood of Kishiro.
Incidentally, the stone bath given to a temple in Kyoto after the war is one size larger than this stone bath. Why several stone baths were built in Toyono during the Kamakura Period and how they were used remains a mystery. Furthermore, a stone statue of Jizo (guardian of children) made in 1314 (Showa 3) is enshrined within the temple grounds.
And for one more stonework from the Kamakura Period, at the Oomaru Buddha worship hall there is also a kasatoba (stone stupa with a stone cap) of Amitabha Buddha with two Bodhisattvas made in 1302 or 1303 (Kengen 2 or 3).

It seems that the roots of Toyono's stone cultural assets began from around this time.
