Mountain Hiking: Mt. Konoyama / Mt. Ko-o-san

This mountain is on the border between the Terada District in Toyono and Nishibetsuincho in Kameoka.
The mountain's name is said to originate from the fact that storks (koonotori) used to live here.
There is a Maki trailhead and a Terada trailhead.
The mountain is 678.9m above sea level, there are few ups and downs, and there's a height difference of about 300m from the foot of the mountain.
On the way up from the Terada trailhead there's a stone image of the famous ascetic and mystic En no Gyoja at a small shrine made from piled rocks (enshrined by ascetics from the Terada District).

According to a treasured book of Aomine Temple at the foot of the mountain (Terada District), the temple was founded in 850 (Kasho 3) and the mountain and temple were named Konoyama and Aomine Temple after seeing storks dancing at the foot of the mountain.
