Lord Nagaya’s Tomb

The ancient round burial mound, about 15 meters in diameter and 1.5 meters tall, is designated by the Imperial Household Agency as the tomb of Lord Nagaya, Minister of the Left from the early Nara Period, according to legends dating from the Edo Period.
The twin is known as one of the Twin Tombs, along with the tomb of his wife, Princess Kibi, located to the northeast.

【Lord Nagaya】
Lord Nagaya was appointed Minister of the Left when Emperor Shomu ascended to the throne.
Upon receiving a covert report by Nuribeno-no-Kimitari and Nakatomi-no-Azumabito, who were associated with Lord Nagaya's household, alleging his involvement in a plot to overthrow the nation, Lord Nagaya took his own life in response to the conspiracy accusation.
Later, it was proven that he was falsely accused of the crime.
