Buddha Ishi (Stone Statues)
53 stone Buddha statues are arranged in a cone shape on top of a rocky cliff that faces a valley deeper than Hosi-no-iwaya.
It is said that this was the place where Kobo Taishi saw the various Buddhas of Kongaokai-Mandara appear and shine brightly.
There are also large ginkgo trees around the area.
The way they stand in the fall makes the area feel especially mystical.
