A stroll garden covering 15,000 tsubo

The garden is a daimyo garden built in 1688 by Kyogoku Takatoyo, the second daimyo (lord) of the Marugame domain.
The large garden covers about 15,000 tsubo (roughly 1,000 square meters). It is centered around a pond and has paths for strolling. There are more than 1,000 old pine trees on the grounds as well Japan's oldest tea ceremony house "Kanchoro," the Marugame Art Museum where famous paintings of the Barbizon School are exhibited, and a museum dedicated to Marugame uchiwa fans. The fans are a traditional craft of Japan. There is also a restaurant, Kaifutei, where you can dine with a view of the garden.
Enjoy the history, culture, and cuisine of Marugame on your visit.
