Its chief priest is a woodblock print artist
Mairaiji Temple is a Buddhist temple of the Soto school of Zen Buddhism and was restored 30 years ago by its chief priest, Shodo Iwagaki.
The woodblock prints, a hobby of the chief priest, are affixed to the sliding screens of the temple, and about 300 sliding screen images and hanging scrolls are on display now.
This temple is so famous nationwide as the "woodblock print temple" that a solo exhibition will be held even in New York.
