Sumpu Castle Park

Sumpu Castle Park

Sumpu Castle Park is a park on the grounds where Sumpu Castle used to stand.
Sumpu Castle was built by Tokugawa Ieyasu in 1585 and later served as his retirement home. A yagura guard tower and a gate have been restored.
The park is surrounded by a double moat and stone walls, and it is a favorite recreational spot among locals.
The park’s Momijiyama Japanese Garden has four Japanese gardens and a teahouse where visitors can experience Japanese tea ceremony.
Enjoying a cup of tea while gazing at a beautiful garden, you can get a feel of traditional Japanese culture.
