Sumpu Takumishuku
Even today, many traditional craft skills are being passed down in Shizuoka city, a town nurtured by history and tradition.
Nine out of the eighteen crafts designated by the Prefecture as “Traditional Crafts Made in Shizuoka” belong to Shizuoka city’s industry.
The traditional crafts industry has spawned new industries over time.
These include furniture, sandal, and plastic model industries. Today, Shizuoka has become a city of local industries, the diversity of which is unseen elsewhere.
Sumpu Takumishuku was built with the purpose of preserving, developing, and doing PR for this traditional crafts industry.
