Sekidenji Temple

This temple is said to have been founded in 1361.
Located near the birthplace of Toshizo Hijikata, his tomb is in the precincts of the temple.
May 11 is the anniversary of his death, and his many fans visit the temple from across the country on the “Toshizo-ki (condolence event)” held in early May.
The temple is also famous for a Japanese nutmeg tree (the natural monument designated by Hino City) that is said to be more than 400 years old.
