Naramachi Minami Tourist Information Center “Shika no Fune”

Authentic Japanese cuisine in the ancient capital

In November 2015 (Heisei 27), the former "Old Naramachi Promotion Center," once a cultural and tourism facility, was reborn as the Naramachi Minami Tourist Information Center “Shika no Fune”—a multi-purpose complex that includes a tourist information center, a dining hall, and a café. In addition to tourist guidance, the facility offers breakfast and lunch made with rice cooked in a traditional hearth (kamado) and seasonal ingredients from Nara Prefecture. It also hosts events where visitors can learn about traditional wisdom and lifestyles passed down through generations, highlighting the deep cultural heritage of Nara.
