Chichibu 34 Kannon Pilgrimage – Temple No.7

Passing through the temple gate, you will see the main hall directly ahead.
Also known as Ushibushido, this impressive building is said to have been designed based on original plans by the Edo-period scientist Hiraga Gennai.
It has the largest main hall among all the temples on the Chichibu 34 Kannon Pilgrimage.
The principal image is an Eleven-faced Kannon Bosatsu that is said to have been carved by the monk Gyoki.
The temple’s paper-cut-style goshuin (temple stamp) features a scene from the legendary tale of an ama diver retrieving the Dragon King’s jewel, which is carved into the transom panels of the main hall.
