Enjoy a little break at IPPUKU-CHAYA while exploring Jindaiji

IPPUKU-CHAYA is a soba shop on the way down the slope from the approach of Jindaiji Temple to the Jindai Botanical Garden.
Nestled in the natural surroundings of Jindaiji, this shop has a quaint, old-fashion atmosphere, and it offers sweets and various other menu items as well as soba.

IPPUKU-CHAYA serves coffee, beer, and other types of beverages such as amazake, perfect for taking a little break while exploring Jindaiji, visiting the temple or the botanical garden.
The shop also has outdoor seats where pets are allowed.

IPPUKU-CHAYA: Recommended soba menus

IPPUKU-CHAYA serves country-style soba noodles with that distinctive color of soba. Their tsuyu soup is on the sweet side.

○ Goshiki soba 1,200 yen

Goshiki soba is a cheerful-looking, wanko soba-style meal with five individual bowls filled with different “toppings.”
These are tororo (grated yam), agetama (tempura crumbs), nameko mushrooms, sansai (edible wild plants), and wakame seaweed. Add your preferred amount of tsuyu into each of the bowls.
Enjoy the meal in any style you prefer, such as tasting each bowl one by one or mixing the toppings together and trying different taste-combinations.

○ Tororo tsuke-soba 980 yen

Tororo tsuke-soba is a simple meal of cold soba with tororo (grated yam) and cold soup.
The Sansai soba that uses edible wild plants that are in season and the Nameko soba are some of the menu items that are popular even among travelers visiting Jindaiji from abroad.

A good place to visit while on a Jindaiji soba tour or restaurant-hopping

【A message from IPPUKU-CHAYA】

IPPUKU-CHAYA has continued for over fifty years since the time of the present owner’s grandfather, and it is easy to spot because it has a red, traditional Japanese umbrella at the front.
A pleasant and friendly owner welcomes his guests.

The outdoor seats are recommended to dine or enjoy refreshments on pleasant days.
With its abundant natural surroundings, Jindaiji is a beautiful area to explore. At the Jindai Botanical Garden nearby, you can enjoy taking a walk among different flowers in different seasons, beginning with roses, azaleas, plum blossoms, and cherry blossoms.
Please feel free to simply drop in. Whether you wish to dine or just have a refreshment, you are welcome.
