This is a vermilion gate located on 3-chome at the path that approaches the shrine, and calligraphy works that read “Tokai Hokutsu (Ascetic Training place)” and “Saijo-ji Special Monastery” are displayed.
To the left and right of the gate there are Kongo Rikishi statues, the shapes of their mouths representing “a” and “un”.
The flowers of ten thousand hydrangea bushes are in full bloom along the approach starting from Niomon gate in June and July.
Cedar trees around the approach were designated as a natural treasure by Kanagawa Prefecture.
The planting of cedar trees has been promoted since this temple was founded, and most of them are 450 to 600 years old.
