Hayama Jinja – Oyamatsumi-no-Mikoto and Yamatotakeru-no-Mikoto

Hayama Jinja, which is also called “Yamamiya,” enshrines Oyamatsumi-no-Mikoto, the father of Konohanasakuyahime-no-Mikoto, as its principal deity.
The shrine is also dedicated to Yamatotakeru-no-Mikoto. A subsidiary of Asama Jinja, the shrine features intricately arranged engravings and flamboyantly colored lacquer.
The shrine’s gods are ujigami (patron deities) of seven local communities.
As guardians of the rice fields in the spring, the gods also provide wood and water, an abundant harvest, and the necessities of food, clothing, and shelter.
