A Hot Spring Where You Can Enjoy Nature in Every Season

Yutopia Karinosato Onsen is a day-use hot spring set on a gentle hill overlooking the site of the Later Three Years’ War (Gosannen War) battlefield of the late 11th century, a conflict remembered as a turning point from ancient to medieval Japan.
According to local legend, the famed warrior Minamoto no Yoshiie—celebrated in his time as one of the greatest military figures—spotted a disturbance in the V-formation of wild geese over nearby Nishinuma, revealing hidden troops.
This story is still passed down today as the “Gankō no Midare.”
Inside the facility you’ll find a large bath, reclining bath, walking bath, and sauna, along with a restaurant serving local dishes, a spacious hall, and private rooms for day use.
The water is a sodium chloride-sodium bicarbonate spring, traditionally said to help relieve neuralgia, muscle and joint pain.
Around the onsen, you can make a full day of it with seasonal outdoor fun—there’s a campground, a park-golf course, and even a beginner-friendly free ski slope—so you can enjoy Misato’s nature in every season.
