Aoki Shigeru "Fruits of the Sea" Memorial House / Kotani Family's House

During the summer of 1904, the painter Aoki Shigeru came on a sketching tour with his lover and friends and stayed in the Kotani family's house in this fishing village, as he created "Fruits of the Sea," and other ocean-themed works.
The Kotani family's house, which was built 130 years ago and called a sacred place in the world of art, has been preserved through donations by local residents and artists across Japan and turned into the Aoki Shigeru "Fruits of the Sea" Memorial House.
