Jutokuji Temple

Jutokuji Temple is located in the plain field on the eastern shore of Lake Yamanaka. This ancient temple once prospered as a place of prayer designated by Takeda Shingen, a samurai lord in the Sengoku period, for the protection of the border between Suruga and Sagami.
The temple houses a lot of valuable cultural assets: Nehan-zu that is said to have been created by Kano Tsunenobu. Mandara-zu that is believed to have been created by Mincho.

You can feel its prestigious atmosphere from the temple path lined with stone lanterns or old bell tower.
There is a tomb of Miura Tamaki, an internationally renowned prima donna, in the graveyard at the back of the temple.
