Application Deadline September 8: 4th Kehaya Chanko Nabe Contest

The application deadline for the 4th Kehaya Chanko Nabe Contest is Tuesday, September 8, 2026. Applications must be received by the deadline.
Anyone can enter, including individuals, groups, businesses, and students, whether professional or amateur.
If you have an idea for your own chanko nabe, a sumo-style Japanese hot pot, turn it into an original recipe and enter the contest.

If applying by mail, please make sure your application arrives by September 8.
Open to Professionals and Amateurs
Individuals, groups, businesses, students, and others may apply regardless of whether they are professional or amateur cooks.
Children of elementary school age or younger must submit a joint entry with a parent or guardian.
Main Entry Requirements
- Ingredient costs must not exceed 2,500 yen for four servings.
- The recipe must be easy to prepare within one hour, including preparation such as cutting ingredients.
- The recipe must be an original creation.
- Commercial hot pot soup bases and similar seasonings that largely determine the flavor may not be used.
- Each individual or group may submit only one entry.

Prize Money
- Winner: ¥50,000
- Runner-up: ¥30,000
- Third place: ¥20,000
Selected recipes may be served as part of meal programs or developed into commercial products.
About the Contest
Approximately six entries will be selected through the first-round document review.
The second round will involve cooking and tasting.
The final is scheduled for Sunday, November 15, 2026.
The winning recipe will be decided by votes from members of the public and special judges.
