Terraced rice fields with Mt. Buko as a backdrop

Terasaka Tanada is the largest area of terraced rice fields in Saitama Prefecture.
Around 250 paddies step down the slope with Mt. Buko rising in the background, creating a classic Japanese rural landscape that fascinates visitors.

The scenery changes with the seasons: rice planting in spring, lush green stalks in summer, and golden ears of rice in autumn.
In late September, the contrast between the bright red cluster amaryllis (higanbana) blooming along the banks and the golden rice is truly spectacular.

Said to have continued since the Jomon period, these historic rice terraces are a place where you can feel not only the beauty of the scenery but also the culture and history of the region.
Local residents work hard to protect the landscape and organize conservation activities and events such as rice-planting experiences.
Through these activities, visitors can interact with the community and appreciate the charm of the terraces even more deeply.
