Exhibits on Mt. Buko, folk culture and fossil finds
Yokoze Town History and Folklore Museum is a local museum that preserves and shares the rich history and culture of Yokoze.
Opened in 1982, it presents a wide range of exhibits, including materials related to Mt. Buko, models of traditional puppet-theater stages, farming tools and other folk implements, as well as historical documents and photographs.
There is also a valuable collection of fossils excavated from the Negoya Limestone Cave, offering a glimpse into the area’s distant past.
Highlights include a detailed scale model of the shrine building of Buko-san Ontake Shrine and fossil specimens dating back around 130,000 years—must-see exhibits for anyone interested in the natural and cultural history of the region.
