Yokosuka Curry Festival 2026 supported by House Foods X-BLEND CURRY

Since launching its curry-themed community development initiative in 1999, Yokosuka has continued to promote itself as “Curry Town Yokosuka.” Its flagship event, Yokosuka Curry Festival 2026, will be held at Verny Park on Saturday, May 16, and Sunday, May 17, 2026.

At the venue, visitors can enjoy Yokosuka Navy Curry and Yokosuka JMSDF Curry, which was renewed last year, along with two annual favorites: the Yokosuka Curry Buffet and the Yokosuka Curry Bread Festival. The event will also bring together distinctive curries from across Japan, from Aomori in the north to Ehime in the south.

On the second day of the event, Sunday, May 17, a public open house will also be held at the nearby JMSDF Yokosuka District Headquarters next to Verny Park. It will be a rare chance to see ships and other parts of the base that are not normally open to the public. Related programs in the surrounding area are also planned, making this a two-day event where visitors can enjoy both curry and the distinctive character of Yokosuka.

Comment from Curry Researcher and Yokosuka Curry Ambassador Monko Ichijo

Monko Ichijo, a curry researcher and Yokosuka Curry Ambassador, shared a message for the event. She said she is sincerely delighted that the Yokosuka Curry Festival, one of the defining events of “Curry Town Yokosuka,” will be held again this year. She highlighted the long-loved Yokosuka Navy Curry, the Yokosuka JMSDF Curry that was renewed last October, and the wide range of unique curries gathered from around Japan, saying the venue will be filled with the aroma of spices and a sense of excitement. She also noted that a curry shop she helped supervise and develop in collaboration with others will be participating, and that she herself will be at the venue on both days to enjoy the appeal of curry with visitors and help energize the event. Her message invites visitors to enjoy discovering Yokosuka’s distinctive curry culture at Verny Park, where the harbor scenery adds to the atmosphere.
