[Event Report] “Mynavi JapanCup Yokosuka 2026” — Top BMX Riders Compete Despite Weather-Related Schedule Changes
The international BMX freestyle competition “Mynavi JapanCup Yokosuka 2026” was held at Verny Park in Yokosuka City, Kanagawa Prefecture, from Thursday, June 4 to Sunday, June 7, 2026.
The event was organized by the Japan Freestyle BMX Federation (JFBF), co-hosted by Yokosuka City, sanctioned by the Japan Cycling Federation, and held as a UCI C1-category international competition. Leading riders from Japan and overseas gathered in Yokosuka, and a total of 32,407 visitors attended over the four-day period.
Rain on the final day, Sunday, June 7, led to the cancellation of several events, including the Men’s and Women’s Elite Park finals and the Men’s Elite Flatland final. In accordance with the competition regulations, the qualifying results from the previous day determined the final rankings in these divisions. The Women’s Elite Flatland final was held as scheduled during a break in the rain.
Below are the results from the elite divisions, along with comments from the winners.

Men’s Elite Park

A total of 18 riders, including riders from Taiwan and elsewhere overseas, took part in the Men’s Elite Park division. The qualifying round was held in three groups. Rankings were determined by the average score of two runs, and the top 12 riders advanced to the final. As the final was canceled due to rain, the qualifying results became the final standings.
Arsenii Liubishkin took first place with 80.49 points, followed by Irek Rizaev with 77.66 points. Kaede Ozawa of Gifu Prefecture placed third with 73.34 points.

“I think I was able to ride really well throughout the event. All the riders were at such a high level, so I was very nervous, but it was a great experience. Right now, I am aiming to win an international event. I truly respect Japanese culture, so I had a lot of fun. Thank you!”
Women’s Elite Park

The Women’s Elite Park division featured seven riders: four from Japan and three from overseas.
Miharu Ozawa of Gifu Prefecture led the qualifying round with 72.56 points. Rena Shirai of Ibaraki Prefecture followed with 62.08 points, and Tomoka Okuzaki of Kyoto Prefecture placed third with 50.79 points. All four Japanese riders advanced to the final. As the final was canceled due to rain, the qualifying results became the final standings.
Final Standings: Top Three
1st: Miharu Ozawa — 72.56 points
2nd: Rena Shirai — 62.08 points
3rd: Tomoka Okuzaki — 50.79 points

“There were still some tricks I wanted to try but could not attempt during qualifying, so I was disappointed that the final could not be held because of the rain. I will keep working to improve, so please continue to support me. Thank you very much for holding the event despite the difficult conditions caused by the typhoon. I will keep doing my best!”

Men’s Elite Flatland

The Men’s Elite Flatland division featured leading riders including Moto Sasaki of Chiba Prefecture, who holds the record for the most victories in official domestic competitions.
Yu Shoji of Chiba Prefecture led the qualifying round with 87.50 points. Moto Sasaki followed with 84.00 points, and Ren Oshima of Chiba Prefecture placed third with 83.17 points. Riders from Chiba Prefecture claimed all three podium positions. As the final was canceled due to rain, the qualifying results became the final standings.

1st: Yu Shoji — 87.50 points
2nd: Moto Sasaki — 84.00 points
3rd: Ren Oshima — 83.17 points

“There are two things that make me really happy about today’s win. First, I was able to stand on the podium together with Moto Sasaki. Second, I achieved my goal of taking first place in a domestic competition this year. I thought it might rain after qualifying, so I gave it everything I had. I am really happy to win two competitions in a row following the Nagoya event. Thank you for your support.”
Women’s Elite Flatland

The Women’s Elite Flatland division was the only elite division in which the final was held as scheduled.
The final featured three riders: Chiaki Todaka of Fukuoka Prefecture, Karin Hommura of Tokyo, and Sona Yoshimura of Mie Prefecture. Todaka won the division with 86.33 points, securing her second consecutive victory at the Yokosuka event. Hommura placed second with 81.33 points, followed by Yoshimura in third place with 75.00 points.
