At Verny Park’s Ikoi-no-Hiroba in Yokosuka City, the annual year-end and New Year event “Yokosuka Countdown 2026” will be held once again. In addition to stage performances and gourmet stalls, illuminations on ships and throughout the park, around 500 fireworks launched from the waters off Yokosuka’s main port, and ship whistles will light up the night and create a memorable start to the New Year.

The venue is Ikoi-no-Hiroba in Verny Park, located in Shioiri, Yokosuka City, where visitors can enjoy the countdown with a view of Yokosuka’s main port.

Event details

On the main stage, local artists and dance teams with ties to Yokosuka will give live performances and lead the New Year’s countdown, so that visitors can share the moment when the New Year arrives. Around the venue, food trucks and tent stalls will offer hot food and drinks, allowing you to enjoy the event while staying warm.

From the offshore area of Yokosuka’s main port, about 500 fireworks will be launched, brightly illuminating the night sky and the surface of the sea. Illuminations on ships and within the park, together with ship whistles and searchlights, create a unique countdown scene that could only be found in a port town like Yokosuka.

Verny Park’s Ikoi-no-Hiroba is about a five-minute walk from Keikyu Shioiri Station, and also about a five-minute walk from JR Yokosuka Station. With convenient train access, it is relatively easy to reach from Yokohama and central Tokyo.
