A facility where visitors can enjoy the beautiful seasonal gardens and learn about the history of Ibaraki Prefecture

Established in 1974, the premises feature both a history museum and an archive.
There is a permanent exhibition of Ibaraki’s history from antiquity to present times.
In addition to the main building, the museum has a spacious area with a reconstructed private house from the Edo period and a Western-style schoolhouse from the Meiji period.
Every year in November, the History Museum Ginkgo Festival is held when the rows of ginkgo trees in the garden are at their best.
