Zokoin

The mummy of Koumyoukaijin Sokushinbutsu is enshrined at Zokoin Temple.
The mummy was excavated based on a local legend that there was a man who entered the village of Kurogamo who vowed to become a sokushinbutsu and requested to be exhumed after 100 years.
The temple also enshrines a Jizo, (Kshitigarbha, a bodhisattva who looks over children, travellers and the underworld) of easy childbirth, a Jizo of raising children, and a Jizo of prolonging one's life.
At Zakoin Temple, visitors can experience Zen meditation.
After a lecture by the chief priest of the temple, beginners are guided through the practice so that they can comfortably complete zazen (seated meditation), and experienced practitioners can do so at a time of their choice.
