St. Mary's Cathedral,Tokyo

This building was originally constructed in 1899 as a cathedral attached to the St. Mary's French Language School.
Later it became Sekiguchi Church, and a wooden Gothic-style cathedral was built, but the building burned down in the Great Tokyo Air Raid.
The present cathedral was built in 1964, designed by the world-famous architect Kenzo Tange.
This cathedral is unique in that it has a stainless steel exterior with no internal pillars.
