Shinseiko Lake

On September 1st, 1923, the Great Kanto earthquake caused an area of land in Hadano stretching 200 meters to cave in. Water from Ichigisawa marsh flowed into this collapsed area, creating Shinseiko Lake.
The lake is 13,000 m² in area and 1,000 m in perimeter, with a depth averaging 4 m and down to 10 m at the deepest.
Fishes, such as the largemouth bass and various species of carp, and many wild birds such as the Japanese pygmy woodpecker, the ashy minivet, the varied tit, the azure-winged magpie, and kingfishers can be seen here.
The lake is well known for its gold and red leaves in autumn and its cherry blossoms in spring. Its hiking course attracts many people.
