Buddha Stone Statues on Mt. Hirai-Taishi

A sacred ground modeled after the Shikoku 88-Temple Pilgrimage that remains on Mt. Daishi in Hirai.
These were carved by the late-Edo period stonemason Sakichi Tamba (Terunobu Murakami) with 15 of his disciples, so that villagers who are unable to travel to Shikoku can make a pilgrimage trip.
About 100 stone Buddhas surround Mt. Daishi.
