Takeda Castle Ruins

The ruins of Takeda Castle, located at the top of a mountain 353.7 meters above sea level, are said to have been built in 1443 by Yamana Sozen, the feudal lord of Tajima, and the Otagaki clan was the lord of the castle for seven generations, but the castle fell in 1580 when Hideyoshi invaded Tajima on the orders of Oda Nobunaga.
The last lord of the castle, Hirohide Akamatsu, is said to have built the castle with magnificent masonry.
The area around Takeda Castle is also famous for the morning mist that forms on clear early mornings during autumn and winter, which is a typical scene in the Tajima region.
