Tatsuta Jinja Shrine

According to the legend of the Tatsuta jinja shrine, Prince Shotoku who was looking for a place to build the Horyu-ji Temple met Tatsuta Daimyojin, who was incarnated as a white-haired old man, and who showed him a place where Buddhism would flourish for a long time.
Prince Shotoku built the Tatsuta Jinja Shrine and made it the guardian of Horyuji Temple, as the Tatsuta Taisha shrine was far away.
There is a fountain in the form of a chicken supported by four wrestlers following the legend of the Empress Jingu and a chicken.
Within the precinct is a monument dedicated to the birthplace of a school of Noh drama, which gradually evolved into Noh and Kyogen, and where Sarugaku was performed at festivals during the Kamakura period (1185–1333).
The giant Sotetsu tree on the temple grounds is designated as a natural monument by the Nara Prefecture.
