Sorin Otomo Cemetery (Sorin Park)

The Sorin Otomo Cemetery in Sorin Park is the site of the grave of Otomo Sorin (1530-1587), a warlord and Christian feudal lord from the Sengoku period of near constant civil war, social upheaval, and political intrigue which ran from 1467 to 1615.
The park also includes a recently built Christian tomb, designed by the well-known Japanese architect from Oita - Arata Isozaki, winner of the 2019 Pritzker Architecture Prize.
A stroll through solemn surroundings features cherry blossoms in spring or autumn leaves.
A "warlord seal" featuring the Otomo family crest or hanaoshi (flower stamps) is available from the Tsukumi City Tourist Association.
