Kamimeguro-Hikawa Jinja Shrine

The Kamimeguro-Hikawa jinja shrine was founded by the Kato clan, vassals of Shingen Takeda, who moved to Kamimeguro village in the Tensho period (1467-1568).
It enshrines the local deity Ubusunagami, from Uenohara in the province of Kai.
The gods of the shrine are Susanoo-no-Mikoto (the god of protection from evil and plague), Amaterasu Omikami (the god of the sun), and Sugawara Michizane (the god of learning).
As the local deities of the former village of Kamimeguro, they have continued to protect the people of the village from the frequent flooding of the Meguro river and from the plague.
Even today, the shrine is visited and revered by many as a god of protection from bad luck and evil.
