Kuninao Date Landing Memorial

Installed near the Fukuroji Rice Center on Prefectural Route 278, Naie/Urausu Line

This monument was erected in May 1974 in conjunction with the construction of the Naie river embankment and commemorates Kuninao Date, a samurai and pioneer who devoted himself to the development of Hokkaido from the end of the Edo period to the Meiji period.
He went up the Ishikari River by boat and landed in Naie in May 1870 to conduct a field survey for the development of Hokkaido.
