Yataro Iwasaki's Childhood Home

The childhood home of Yataro Iwasaki, known as the founder of the financial conglomerate Mitsubishi, still remains today in Inokuchi Ichinomiya, in the outskirts of Aki City.
It is here in this single-story house with about 99 square meters of thatched roofing that Yataro, his younger brother Yanosuke, and his oldest son Hisaya were born.
The four-and-a-half mat room in the eastern side of the interior is where the three gave their first cries as babies.
Seven sites, including the main building and the storehouse, are registered as tangible cultural properties of Japan.
