Ukon Shimizu

This is one of the Shinchi Sanshimizu (Three Clear Springs), also selected as one of the 100 best waters of the Heisei era (by the Ministry of the Environment).
It is believed that the name came from the fact that Ukon Ito (Date), the grandson of Masamune Date, moved to Shinchi, devoted himself to the development of new rice paddies and planting trees, and enjoyed the spring water that gushed out.
In spring, a corridor of blooming cherry trees of many varieties such as rare Ukon cherries, not to mention Yoshino cherries, can be enjoyed around the Suganosawa Reservoir, where Ukon Shimizu is located.
