Jusan Kaido and Narihira Romantic Road

The road to the Jusan Pass, which crosses the Ikoma Mountains from east to west, leading from Tamatsukuri in Osaka to Ise, is called the Jusan Kaido Road.
Ariwara-no-Narihira, a poet of the Heian period, known as the protagonist of The Tales of Ise, is said to have traveled this road from his home in Tenri to his lover in Takayasu in the old province of Kawachi, giving the road its second name: the Romantic Road of Ariwara-no-Narihira.
This trail begins at Heguri Station and passes by the Fujita Family Residence, Hakusan Shrine, and Kitsuki Shrine on its way to the Jusan Pass.
