Honoyama Sunflower Field / Nakayama Sunflower Field
For about 30 years, the town has been cultivating sunflowers for oilseed pressing, mainly in the Honoyama and Nakayama areas, using fallow rice fields. 1.2 million sunflowers bloom throughout the town in early July each year.
The Honoyama area also hosts the Himawari Festival, which attracts many tourists from within and outside of the prefecture as a scenic spot for viewing sunflowers.
